2024-03-19

Three quick questions to Morgan Olofsson, Head of Communications at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB), about Sweden’s preparedness.

What is the most important thing a company can do to help increase Sweden’s preparedness?

The most important thing is understanding what we are defending – democracy and freedom – and that these are under threat, and the important role you – as a company and as an individual – play in this defence.

What is MSB currently doing in terms of preparedness that all businesses should know about?

The important information can be found by searching for ‘MSB’ and ‘Business Preparedness’. There you will find everything from training programmes and examples of what other companies have done to subscribing to newsletters on the subject.

How does being a NATO member affect Sweden’s preparedness efforts?

Being a NATO Ally means we no longer have to defend our territory ourselves. However, it also means no longer only defending Sweden’s territory but also helping others if there is a war.

Morgan Olofsson, Head of Communications at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, was interviewed by Andreas Bergström, Senior Consultant and Partner at New Republic. ‘Three Quick Questions…’ is a series of interviews conducted by New Republic.
